First Things for Student Teachers to Do:

While the new student teacher's thoughts are turning to one's hopes and aspirations, one's doubts and fears, as well as one's opportunities and challenges, there are a number of very practical matters that student teachers need to attend to during the first week of student teaching and prior to the Villanova supervisor's first visit.

In particular, it is expected during the first days of student teaching that the student teachers will submit the following information to the Villanova supervisor:

  • the student's full name
  • email address
  • local phone number
  • home phone number
  • the school's name and address
  • the school's KYW identification number
  • the names, telephone numbers, and email addresses of school officials

To submit this information, simply click on the "Student Teacher Information" button located to the left.  When the student teacher has completed the form, click on the submit button and it will be electronically mailed to the Villanova supervisor.  A copy of the form will simultaneously appear on the computer's screen.  It can be printed and saved if desired.

In addition to the information listed above, the form also requires student teachers to identify how and when they will provide the Villanova supervisor the following information.

  • a copy of the school's calendar
  • a copy of one's teaching schedule
  • a map and directions to the school (the starting point is Villanova University)

Once the student teacher submits all of these items to the Villanova supervisor, it is then each student teacher's responsibility to arrange for the Villanova supervisor's first on-site visit by coordinating schedules with the Cooperating Educator and the Villanova supervisor.  (Most Cooperating Educators prefer that this meeting be scheduled during a free period rather than prior to or following school.)  This meeting should normally be held during the first or second full week of student teaching.
