Course Objectives:
- To explore divergent definitions
of truth, philosophy, and education.
- To explicate the
ancient/classical, enlightenment/modern, contemporary/post-modern
philosophical systems.
- To apply the ancient/classical,
enlightenment/modern, contemporary/post-modern philosophical systems to
educational issues, especially the purpose of schooling and the role and
function of the teacher.
- To critique the ancient/classical,
enlightenment/modern, contemporary/post-modern philosophical systems as
they describe the purpose of schooling and the role and function of the
teacher.
- To formulate one’s provisional
educational philosophy conversant with the requirements of the
Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th
edition).
