Exercise #5:
ANTICIPATING AND ADDRESSING
POTENTIAL PROBLEMS

Precisely because professional development programsas all educational programs (Tyler, 1949)are intended to effect psychological change in teachers, successful instructional leaders must envision problems that might emerge once the professional development program is underway.

In Exercise #5, the student will identify three (3) of the most significant problems one expects to confront when implementing the program specified in Exercises #3 & #4. The student should offer one (1) proactive resolution to deal with each problem effectively. The student should use no more than one page for each problem and resolution. Also, the student should not forget to cite any ideas that have emerged from the student’s study of the literature.

Each student will present Exercise #5 in class for review, critique, and feedback. (A hard copy will be provided to the professor for grading.) In light of the feedback received, the student will revise Exercise #5 and place it in the fourth division of the portfolio.
