While the instructional leader possesses expert knowledge of the teaching craft and staff development, this individual must act within a democratic framework to effect instructional improvement. Course materials will challenge students to complicate how they think about curriculum, teaching, and learning as well as how students might lead teachers to improve instructional programs and to guard against the temptation to use ones authority in autocratic, manipulative, arbitrary, or coercive manners. |
